It starts with a dream
As a designer and artist based in Vancouver, Canada, my journey has been anything but conventional. From the age of 19, my heart was set on becoming a fashion designer.
After completing a diploma in fashion design and merchandising, I moved to London at 21 to pursue my dream. Despite finding work in the garment industry, I realized I lacked the resources to launch my own label.
I remained in London for a decade and had some wonderful adventures, including volunteering as a scuba diver to collect baseline data for a marine conservation project on the Belizean barrier reef.
Those three months totally changed the way I view the world and continue to inform my day-to-day life.
But I couldn’t stay on the reef forever, so I returned to Canada, where I began a successful career as a medical journalist and writer. In 2006, unforeseen circumstances prompted a radical shift in my life trajectory. I decided to follow in the footsteps of my artist father and delve into painting.
The recognition of my work began to grow, with highlights such as appearing on the cover a national Japanese/Canadian arts and culture magazine in 2014 and exhibiting in New York in 2015.
Then, in March 2020 that I was honored to be featured as an "Artist to Collect" by Arabella Magazine, followed by a showcase in House & Garden's Best of British Issue in May/June 2020. But 2020 also forced another pivot.
The Covid-19 pandemic led me to explore digital art and the world of textiles. Inspired by positive feedback, I decided to create a line of loose-fitting women's clothing featuring my prints.
With support of a trusted fashion brand consultant, I embarked on a journey to bring my vision to life. Now, after many, many months of work, I proudly present my Prima Capsule Collection with over a dozen exquisite garments, each bearing my signature prints.
Designed for ease and elegance, every piece slips on effortlessly, accommodating fluctuations in size while celebrating the wearer and the print.
My motivation stems from a deep-seated desire to create and the joy of seeing my work appreciated. Designing beautiful clothes brings me fulfillment, knowing that it brings happiness to others fuels my passion.
My hope is to spread joy and beauty through my clothing, empowering women to express their unique style. And, importantly, to tread lightly on this beautiful planet that is our home.
Enjoy and spread!
