Claire Sower is a contemporary artist based in Vancouver. Following in her father’s footsteps, she began painting professionally in 2009 following a successful career as a medical journalist. Inspired by Bernard Cathelin, Nicholas de Stael and Henri Matisse, among others, Claire’s work is bold, colourful, and whimsical. She is known for her expressionist, impasto florals and vivid landscapes.
In 2014 her work appeared on the cover of a national Japanese/ Canadian arts and culture magazine and 2015 saw her first exhibit in New York. She currently shows at Silk Gallery on Clarke Street in Port Moody, which handles her floral works exclusively. In 2019, her work was featured as part of the “Walk of Art” at SWISSARTEXPO, Basel, Switzerland. She has been featured as an Artist to Collect in Arabella Magazine. Claire is a juried member of the Canadian Federation of Artists and an executive member of the Parker Art Salon.
